Tottenham Hotspur want to buy Matthias Ginter to replace Kevin Wimmer.

Tottenham Hotspur could complete a clever transfer move by selling Kevin Wimmer for £17 million (Express), and bringing in Borussia Dortmund defender Matthias Ginter for a cheaper fee.

Spurs are said to be willing to offload Wimmer this summer, but they are looking to receive a sizeable fee for the Austrian.

If Wimmer does leave Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will target another centre-back.

And Dortmund defender Ginter is said to be on their wishlist by the Guardian.

Ginter is available for just under £15 million, which would mean Spurs could safely bank a £2 million profit on Wimmer, with his replacement signed up.

If Ginter was to move to Spurs, he would likely be brought in as a back-up choice.

But by raising so much funds from Wimmer’s sale, Tottenham are effectively taking any risk out of buying Ginter.

The deal can be seen as a profitable trade for Spurs, and Daniel Levy will once again be able to view the move as a excellent piece of business.
