Signing Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion is hardly a signing which would take Tottenham Hotspur to the next level, but it could be a bargain all the same.

Spurs have recently been linked with a move for Evans in the summer, with the Daily Telegraph suggesting that they are considering activating his release clause.

Evans is set to be available for £3 million if the Baggies are relegated, which is starting to look like a certainty.

And if Spurs can land the 30-year-old for that price he could be one of the best value for money buys in the summer.

Evans is a defender with a great deal of Premier League experience, he has impressed at international level, and he would be more than reliable cover for Spurs.

With the transfer market so inflated, it is basically impossible to ignore a player of Evans’ quality for such a cheap price.

And although the West Brom man’s arrival would hardly create a great deal of excitement in Spurs fans, it could still be a very smart move from Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
