Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are now facing competition from Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain for Chelsea central defender Antonio Rudiger, according to Sky Sports.
Antonio Rudiger rumour
Eurosport reported last month that Tottenham are keen on signing Rudiger on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Spurs are reportedly ‘putting forward a strong proposal’ for the 28-year-old Germany international central defender.
However, Sky Sports have now reported that PSG are in talks with Antonio Rudiger’s representatives over a pre-contract agreement this month.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also in talks, according to the report.
Transfer blow for Tottenham Hotspur
In our opinion, PSG – as well as Madrid, Bayern and Juventus – all opening talks with Rudiger’s agents is bad news for Tottenham.
Pochettino, a former Tottenham manager, clearly rates the German.

PSG have the advantage of agreeing a pre-contract with Rudiger.
Tottenham cannot do that in the January transfer window
Spurs will have to wait until the end of the season to strike any sort of deal.
Madrid, PSG, Bayern and Juventus all are massive clubs who regularly challenge for titles and major honours.
We think that it is unlikely Rudiger would move to Tottenham on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 when he has offers from PSG and Madrid among other clubs.
