Bryan Gil could leave Tottenham Hotspur but Fabio Paratici wants to sign a replacement first amid links to Leeds United’s Daniel James.
Gil only joined Tottenham last summer, arriving in a deal which saw Spurs send cash plus Erik Lamela to Sevilla.
The Spaniard barely featured for Spurs though, failing to start a league game whilst making just nine substitute appearances.
Tottenham sent Gil to Valencia in January and after a strong loan spell, with La Liga side want him back on loan once again.
Bryan Gil could leave Tottenham Hotspur
The London Evening Standard report that Tottenham will allow Gil to go back to Valencia – but only if they have a replacement lined up.
Tottenham allegedly understand that signing a player who will take on a bit-part role will be difficult.
Gil isn’t exactly playing a key role in Antonio Conte’s squad but the Italian doesn’t want to the caught short in case of injuries.
That leaves Valencia waiting for Tottenham to green-light the deal for Gil – and Leeds United could have a very big say here.
Reports from Alan Nixon and the Daily Mail claim that Tottenham want to sign Leeds winger Daniel James.
That’s a surprise pursuit given that James hasn’t exactly pulled up trees since joining Leeds from Manchester United for £25million last summer.
Still, James has blistering pace and is a hard worker, two attributes that may suit Conte’s approach.
James can play on the right or left flank, meaning he can offer proven Premier League cover for both Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.
Whether Leeds would be willing to sell is another matter; they have already lost one winger this summer in Raphinha, who joined Barcelona this summer.
There isn’t long left in this transfer window, but if Gil is to go out and receive the playing time he needs, it may require James to make his move to Tottenham.
