Tottenham Hotspur have hope of signing goalkeeper David Raya after he confirmed he has rejected multiple offers to stay at Brentford.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with Raya in recent times and it looks like there may be a chance for a summer move.

Bees goalkeeper Raya has told The Athletic that he has rejected not one but two new deals.

One came last year and another came in January with Brentford desperate to keep the Spaniard in West London.

Raya noted that he offers weren’t quite what he was looking for, so he snubbed Brentford twice.

Raya now wants to focus on playing and seemingly shelving talk over his future until the end of the season.

The former Blackburn Rovers stopper isn’t worried about his price tag but seemed to open the door for a summer move.

“I turned down two contracts, one last year and one this January,” said Raya. “They weren’t the offers we were looking for. I can only say that. I want to focus on playing games and not think too much about my future. I have a contract here, so I’m willing to finish that, but you never know what’s going to happen in the summer. Maybe the club wants to sell, maybe not. Maybe I want to stay. I want to focus on football and see what happens.”

“The club will decide the price and if a club wants to pay money, that will be it,” he says. “I’m not worried about that. I’m not in charge of that,” he added.

Raya is out of contract at the end of next season and Brentford may soon need to sell before he leaves for nothing.

Tottenham Hotspur want Brentford goalkeeper David Raya

90Min claimed in November that Spurs are eyeing a move for Raya.

The Telegraph reported in January that Tottenham face a battle with both Chelsea and Manchester United for Raya’s signature.

Hugo Lloris is now 36 and Tottenham need to think about finding a long-term successor for the Frenchman.

Tottenham may want to focus on signing a goalkeeper who is adept with the ball at his feet and can progress the ball from the back.

Raya certainly fits that bill and is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League when it comes to playing out from defence.

Raya has impressed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who told BBC Sport that Raya is ‘incredible’ with his passing ability.

It sounds like Raya is at least open to a summer transfer and Tottenham would make sense as a destination this summer.
