The Tottenham Hotspur manager is willing to sign players – providing they’re available.
Mauricio Pochettino has told Football London that he is open to the idea of potentially strengthening his Tottenham Hotspur squad in the January transfer window.
Tottenham are 21 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City and have been eliminated from the League Cup.
Realistically, Spurs have to win the Champions League or FA Cup to have a successful season and some shrewd business next month might bolster their chances of silverware.
However, Pochettino says that he is happy with his Tottenham squad for the most part if he can’t find the “quality players” who would add something to his squad.
“For us it’s to see if there’s an opportunity to try to improve the squad and to sign some good quality players. If it’s not possible I’m happy with my squad,” he told Football London.
It’s been an outstanding season for Spurs in Europe and, with a last-16 Champions League tie with Juventus on the horizon next year, they might need new personnel to negotiate that one.
After all, what if, say, Harry Kane is injured for it? Is Fernando Llorente good enough to deputise? Arguably not, so Pochettino could and probably should be looking at signing a striker.
