Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino responds when asked what he said to Pep Guardiola after VAR decision

Tottenham Hotspur held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw yesterday, but required an intervention from VAR.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Manchester City, that he would accept an invite to discuss a host of matters with Pep Guardiola at the Spanish boss’s restaurant.

Tottenham’s match with City at the Etihad Stadium finished in controversial circumstances, as the home side had a goal chalked off for handball in the final minutes.

Guardiola and Pochettino were spotted in deep discussion on the touchline after.

And when asked to reveal details of what was said during the conversation, the Spurs boss said: “It was the VAR in the last moment, he saw me and I saw him. We started to talk. The conversation was a few minutes talking about many things.

“If he invites me to his restaurant in Manchester I will accept and we can have a few hours conversation to clarify everything.”

Tottenham have benefitted from VAR reviews on their previous two visits to Manchester City now.

Spurs made it through in the Champions League last term when Raheem Sterling’s goal was ruled out for offside, and they were celebrating when Gabriel Jesus’s last minute strike was disallowed for handball yesterday.

Spurs ended up holding on to claim a 2-2 draw, despite being put on the back foot for much of the contest.

Tottenham are next in action when they take on struggling Newcastle United, as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the campaign.
