Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested at his latest press conference, which was covered by Football.London, that he will again speak to Erik Lamela about his fitness tomorrow.

Lamela has been out for over a year with a hip injury, and his struggles to find fitness appear to have knocked the winger’s confidence.

The Argentine wide-man appears to be medically fit to play, but lacks confidence to return to competitive action.

And Pochettino says that he will ask Lamela again tomorrow, whether he will be able to play against Arsenal.

“Tomorrow I need to speak (to Lamela) again. Every day we are talking and saying ‘are you ready? Are you ready?,” Pochettino said.

Lamela is likely to need to be eased back into action, and when he does return it would be a major surprise to see him coming straight back into Spurs’ starting line-up.

However, Lamela’s comeback will be good news for Pochettino, as it will bolster his attacking options.

Lamela was a key player for Spurs before his injury, with his ability to press defences making him a vital component of Pochettino’s attacking line-up.

Tottenham will also be without Toby Alderweireld for the North London Derby, with Pochettino confirming the Belgian international was out until after Christmas.
