Mauricio Pochettino has today addressed the rumours emanating from Spain this week that Tottenham Hotspur were looking to sign Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

It was reported by Don Balon that Spurs were hoping to sign the City striker. It comes as the Argentine has seen his playing time diminish recently under the management of Pep Guardiola and Tottenham, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus and PSG were all linked with a potential move for the player.

It was of course speculation quickly laughed off by many a football observer.

Now the Tottenham manager has joined the club.

Speaking at a press conference today the Spurs boss is quoted by the Hampstead and Highgate Express as having this to say about the apparent interest in signing the world-class striker in the winter:

“Not true, 100 per cent not true.”

Of course Spurs were not going to be in the market for Aguero. His asking price would be astronomical and quite frankly City are unlikely to be open to selling him.

Tottenham fans who were clinging to the dream of a future Kane-Aguero partnership may have to finally drop those ambitious plans.
