Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has hinted in Football London that changes could be made in January.

Tottenham have made a highly inauspicious start to the season, and their problems were laid bare last night.

Spurs were humiliated in the League Cup, as Colchester United beat them on penalties.

The League Two side managed to stop Tottenham scoring, as they went on to win on spot kicks and dump Pochettino’s men out.

It leaves Tottenham facing huge questions after what has been an awful opening to their campaign.

And Pochettino believes that changes may need to be made in the new year.

“January is going to be a good opportunity too to fix this situation and the next one,” Pochettino said.

“That is the problem when something happens that you cannot control. It means we are human and in football to keep the successful period in football you need to be different every season and find different solutions. We need to do something different and we will do that.”

The comments are concerning, given that Tottenham have just had a transfer window which was expected to iron out the faults in their squad.

Spurs have been unlucky in the sense that every one of their new signings has suffered with injury, but that still provides them with no excuse for failing to beat Colchester last night.

Whether Pochettino was hinting at departures or incoming additions in January remains to be seen, but it seems that a year of change could be in the pipeline at Spurs.
