Tottenham Hotspur take on Everton in their opening game of the Premier League season this weekend and Mauricio Pochettino has been talking to the press before the game.
He addressed the club’s injury issues before the game and confirmed the good news that Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen is fully fit for the game this weekend.

The Argentine is quoted by the London Evening Standard as stating: “Good news, Jan Vertonghen is ready. Last week was perfect, he trained with the group.”
This of course comes a great news for Spurs, who had feared that Vertonghen would miss the early part of the new season.

He suffered an ankle ligament injury at the end of June whilst on international duty with Belgium at Euro 2016.
Despite many reports suggesting he was therefore set to miss the start of the Premier League season, Vertonghen has made an excellent recovery in just six weeks.

Spurs fans will be overjoyed at the news not just because Vertonghen is a vital player, but due to his excellent performances against Everton in recent times.
Spurs fans will be hoping he can repeat that recent record in the Premier League opener.
