Vincent Janssen is yet to score for Tottenham Hotspur since signing in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that he will put his faith in Vincent Janssen to replace Harry Kane, at his press conference which was broadcasted by Press Bureau TV on Youtube.
Kane is set to miss up to eight weeks of action, after he damaged his ankle during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Sunderland.
The injury blow is hugely disappointing news for Spurs, especially as Kane seemed to finding his feet after scoring twice in his last two games.
However, Pochettino insists that Janssen was brought in this summer for moments like this, and he has backed the Dutch striker to make the step up.
“It’s difficult without Kane, but for that we signed Vincent Janssen,” Pochettino said. “He’s working very well. He is a striker who can give us a lot of things. We signed him to arrive in this moment. We need him to give the same level as Kane.”
Janssen has struggled to make much of an impact at White Hart Lane so far, with most his appearances coming as a substitute.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a promising pre-season, but he is yet to open his goalscoring account for Spurs in competitive action.
Janssen is likely to start in Tottenham’s next match, which comes against League One side Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
