Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino comments on Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Liverpool in the Champions League final in their last competitive match.

Mauricio Pochettino has told the London Evening Standard that Liverpool are not an inpsirination for Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool lost the Champions League final two years ago, before going on to beat Tottenham in Madrid in the final game of last season, to lift the trophy.

There has been suggestions that Tottenham should look to Liverpool as inspiration now.

However, Pochettino thinks that Tottenham should be the club that other Premier League sides look up to, as they have spent far less money to reach the same standard.

“It’s not fair to compare and say Liverpool is going to be an inspiration for us. No! It’s the opposite,” Pochettino said.

“Tottenham is an inspiration for the rest of teams in Premier League or in England because with less in everything you can fight.”

Liverpool went on to strengthen after being beaten in the Champions League final and they were very strong last season.

Spurs have not been as active in the transfer window as many were expecting so far.

Tottenham have snapped up Tanguy Ndombele, but their transfer window has stalled more recently.

Pochettino’s side now could be set for a busy few weeks, as they eye up further additions before the new season starts.
