The Argentine admits that only one holding midfielder is what he is after at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has given a big hint about his future plans in the midfield area for the club, as the Argentine admits that one holding midfielder is his preference.
Spurs picked up a fantastic 2-0 win against Manchester City today. City were previously unbeaten in the Premier League this season, but Spurs played with an exceptional intensity and deserved the win thanks to an own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov and a Dele Alli finish in the first-half.
Spurs lined up with an attacking looking team, rather than trying to contain City, they went at them.

Victor Wanyama played the holding role whilst Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela were allowed to roam free – with Eric Dier sitting on the bench.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, as reported by BBC London Sport, Pochettino made it clear this is his future vision for the club:
“Our mentality was to play in the opposite half. Not only to run in behind them but when we have the ball to play in the way that we play.
“I think it is the commitment of the team that you can play in different ways and believe.
Tottenham’s Eric Dier sustains an injury
“The design to play is not only (for) today. We play against CSKA (Moscow) we play against Middlesbrough and different games with only one midfielder holding.
“I think that the future and the project of the team is to play with only one.”
That certainly means Wanyama and Dier are set to have a battle on their hands between each other for the defensive midfield position under Pochettino.
If that system produces more performances like this, Spurs will be very happy.
