The agent of AS Roma player Jordan Veretout has said that the midfielder will not leave for Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur, as quoted in CalcioMercato.
Mario Giuffredi has said that Veretout will not be included in any swap deal involving Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Il Messaggero reported this week that Tottenham are interested in signing former Aston Villa midfielder Veretout from Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the January transfer window.
Giuffredi told CalcioMercato, as translated by TheBootRoom: “A swap Ndombélé-Veretout? I categorically deny. He will stay at Roma at least until the end of the season.”
Jordan Veretout to Tottenham would have been strange
In our view, Veretout is not a player that Tottenham should be looking to sign in the January transfer window.
The France international midfielder was not particularly great when he was at Villa.
Now, of courser, we know that the 28-year-old has done well in Italy, first at Fiorentina and then at Roma.

However, in our opinion, there is no point in Tottenham signing the 28-year-old now, especially if they have to include Ndombele in an exchange deal.
Veretout is a good central midfielder who has scored four goals and provided six assists in 21 Serie A matches for Roma so far this season.
Tottenham need a creative midfielder who will help in attack.
Christian Eriksen is available on a free transfer.
Why don’t Tottenham offer him a short-term deal and bring back the Dane to the club?
