Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to avoid their fellow English clubs and start off their Champions League campaign with a win against Greek side Olympiacos.

Tottenham Hotspur are hours away from starting their Champions League road once again, as they are hopeful of going one better this time and lifting their first European crown.
Whilst two English clubs suffered opening game defeats on Tuesday night, Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping his team can avoid that same scenario and instead put some early points on the board against Olympiacos.
It is set to be a tough encounter against the Greek giants, who have had a seriously strong start to the season, both from a defensive and offensive standpoint.
The one stat that perhaps proves that Spurs are going to be in for a tougher ride than they think is that Pedro Martins side have only conceded one goal this season in all competitions.
The Tottenham game is set to be their 10th match in all competitions, and during that time, they have scored 20 goals, including hitting five against Volos at the weekend – and as mentioned only conceded once [transfermarkt].
Of course, the Greek club are yet to come up against a team such as Spurs, as Harry Kane will no doubt be one of the best strikers their backline will come up against.

But they are bang in form, and their recent win in the Super League at the weekend, also means that they top the Greek division after three games.
When it comes to playing European games, especially away from home, encounters such as this are perhaps the ones which can be the toughest, even though it may not seem like that from the outside.
The reason being is all the limelight is, in this case, on Tottenham and on Tottenham to win. But there is, at times, a little bit of unknown about the opposition, the atmosphere is going to be very difficult to play in and the opposing team, as is in this case, come into the match full of confidence and in a seriously rich vein of form.
Either way, Spurs will be backing themselves to prove their worth because since the closure of the European transfer window, the players have seemingly returned from the international break full of energy once again and that was proven when they thrashed Crystal Palace on Saturday.
