Nicolo Zaniolo of AS Roma looks on during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Second Leg match between FC Porto and AS Roma at Estadio do Dragao on March 06, 2019 in Porto, Portugal.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo.

Tuttosport claim Spurs could make a £43 million move for the 19-year-old midfielder.

This is a long shot from Tottenham’s perspective, because Roma do not like to part with their top young prospects.

There are hopes at Roma that Zaniolo could follow greats like Francesco Totti and Daniele de Rossi in becoming one club men their entire careers.

This is where Tottenham have a chance, because while it is stability which Roma can offer, Spurs can provide the same.

With a top manager in Mauricio Pochettino, a glittering new stadium, healthily run finances and a settled squad, Zaniolo could move to Spurs and not worry about his future as long as he performs.

This is in contrast to a Real Madrid, Chelsea or Manchester United, who chop and change their managers, and a player might be flavour of the month one moment, and out of favour the next.

Tottenham are one of the few clubs in Europe which can combine stability with the ability to compete for trophies at an elite level.

It’s still an ambitious move for Spurs, but they are one of the few sides which have a chance of convincing him to part ways with Roma.
