New Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has been backed for success by Roma striker Tammy Abraham – a boyhood Arsenal supporter.

Tottenham sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday after just a matter of months in the job, and wasted no time finding his successor.

Conte was appointed on Tuesday morning, taking the Tottenham job having initially rejected Spurs over the summer.

Having won league titles with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan, this is a hugely exciting move for Tottenham.

The move has sparked reactions from fans, pundits, managers and players, with Abraham joining the debate.

Abraham grew up supporting Arsenal, so you would imagine that praising Tottenham isn’t too easy for him.

Still, he worked with Conte at Chelsea and suggested he is ‘sure’ that he will improve Tottenham.

Abraham praised Conte’s abilities as a coach, but also talked up former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho in the same breath.

Abraham, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb, added that he would like to see Roma face Tottenham in the final of the Europa Conference League.

There is a long way to go until that can happen, but can you imagine Conte v Mourinho with a trophy on the line?

“I had the pleasure of being coached by Conte, I know his abilities,” said Abraham. “I’m sure he will make Tottenham grow a lot, but we too have a great coach from whom we are learning a lot, every day.

“If the teams do well it would be nice to find ourselves in the final, but we have to concentrate on the match against Bodo and try to get through the group stage,” he added.
