Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte left some worried about his future this week – and Rio Ferdinand doesn’t think he’ll be at the club next season.

We all know Conte is something of an emotional character; more so than many other managers in the Premier League.

After beating Manchester City, Conte suggested that this Tottenham side was one of the best he had ever worked with.

Yet after losing to Burnley just a few days later, Conte called his own position into question by suggesting he may not be the man for the job.

Conte has now indicated that he is ‘much more committed’ to Tottenham after talks with Daniel Levy, meaning this story has been very up and down.

Conte’s Tottenham did claim a win on Saturday, beating Leeds United 4-0 in a superb display at Elland Road.

This was much more like it from Tottenham; controlling the game, creating chances, being clinical in front of goal.

The race for the top four is back on for Tottenham, but many still think Conte will be moving on this summer.

That’s certainly the opinion of Rio Ferdinand, who speaking on BT Sport before Saturday’s win over Leeds (26/02, 11:45pm).

Ferdinand suggested that Conte’s comments on the media point towards a man looking for an escape, believing he didn’t realise just how bad things were at Tottenham.

Ferdinand thinks Conte will be gone this summer and won’t regret leaving Tottenham if that’s the decision he takes.

“I don’t think he’ll be here after the summer,” said Ferdinand. “Based on what I’ve seen in the media this last week, based on the players he’s disposed of, I think he’s walked in and would be quite comfortable saying ‘I didn’t realise it was that bad’, he would feel no worry about walking away.”

“He’s not someone who would look back and go ‘oh I regret that’, he’s confident in his decision, I’ll be very surprised if he’s here next year,” he added.

We would predict that Conte will stay at Tottenham; he has only had one transfer window and simply needs to give this job time.

Conte knew Tottenham weren’t in a position to contend for major honours this season; one transfer window was never likely to change that.

Yes, Conte needs packing this summer, but walking out any time soon may hamper his reputation when it comes to getting another job down the line.
