Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has picked out Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for praise, feeling he isn’t receiving enough plaudits right now.

Tottenham claimed a huge win on Sunday afternoon, coming from behind to smash Newcastle United 5-1.

A superb second-half display saw Tottenham turn the game on its head, securing a vital three points in the race for the top four.

The exceptional front three of Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski again took most of the plaudits having all bagged assists.

Wing backs Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty got on the scoresheet, joining the attackers in receiving huge praise.

Whilst most of the post-match conversation discussed those five players, Conte made a point to pick out Hojbjerg too.

Hojbjerg isn’t even the most talked-about Tottenham midfielder right now with Rodrigo Bentancur continuing to shine after arriving from Juventus.

The Dane is going somewhat under the radar, doing plenty of dirty work in the middle of the park without grabbing the headlines.

Well, Conte decided to do it for him.

Speaking to Football London after the final whistle against Newcastle, Conte noted that nobody is asking him about Hojbjerg at the moment.

Conte feels that Hojbjerg is doing a ‘fantastic job’ in the Tottenham midfield both with and without the ball whilst being a very strong player physically.

Conte clearly thinks Hojbjerg is improving just like his teammates, singling him out as a player who deserves more credit right now.

“Pierre, no one asked me about him, but I think in every game he is doing a fantastic job, with the ball, without the ball, strong physically,” said Conte. “Every player is improving their level and for this reason Tottenham is going up and up,” he added.

Jose Mourinho allegedly wants to reunite with Hojbjerg at Roma, but Tottenham are demanding more than £33million for his signature.

With Conte hailing him in the press, it seems that Hojbjerg will be a part of the Tottenham furniture for a while yet, continuing to build his partnership with Bentancur.
