Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has urged people not to forget about midfielder Harry Winks despite the arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur in January.
Tottenham headed away to Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night, seeking a win after losing 3-2 away at Manchester United on Saturday.
Conte’s men needed to show a response and did just that with Cristian Romero opening the scoring, diverting – whether intentionally or not – a Dejan Kulusevski shot into the net.
Harry Kane then added a second for Tottenham, securing all three points at the Amex Stadium.
With Arsenal losing to Liverpool, Tottenham have closed the gap to the top four to just three points; there is hope of Champions League qualification once again.
Tottenham have to find consistency though, they can’t just keep winning one game and losing the next.
Conte will be looking for that consistency in the weeks to come, with midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur absolutely vital to any hopes.
Bentancur played a superb through ball to find Kane for Tottenham’s second against Brighton, underlining why he is already a Conte favourite.
The Uruguayan’s arrival means Harry Winks is having to sit on the bench again having briefly featured in Conte’s starting lineup.

Whilst there was major praise for Bentancur after beating Brighton, Conte made a point of praising Winks too.
Speaking to Football London, Conte stated ‘don’t forget Winksy because is a reliable player’, praising him as an important squad player.
For anybody thinking that Winks may be moved on this summer, it sounds like Conte has plans for him to be around the Tottenham squad for a while yet.
Winks may not start all that often, but it seems that Conte values his presence around Tottenham, offering cover for Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
