Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte will be back this week according to his assistant and interim boss Cristian Stellini.

Stellini has been speaking to BBC Sport after Tottenham’s 2-0 home win over London rivals Chelsea.

Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane – two homegrown talents – were on the scoresheet in a superb win for Tottenham.

That gives Stellini another win in interim charge of Tottenha as he continues to deputise for Antonio Conte.

Conte is back in Italy recovering after rushing himself back too early from gallbladder surgery.

Stellini has though indicated that Conte will now return to Tottenham this week and resume his duties in the coming days.

Stellini wanted to beat Chelsea for Conte and having achieved all three points, the Tottenham boss will be back imminently.

“Our desire was this to win, play a great game and to fight for every ball and we are happy for the fans, the club and of course for us and Antonio who is still at home,” said Stellini. “My expectation is that Antonio will be back this week,” he added.

Beating Chelsea is a nice feather in the cap for Stellini but the focus will soon turn back to Conte.

Antonio Conte return a boost for Tottenham

Conte rushed himself back for the game against AC Milan earlier this month but decided to take more time to recover having underestimated the severity of his operation.

Stellini has kept Tottenham moving but will now hand the reins back to the usual Tottenham boss.

Spurs must now kick on again with some big games on the horizon.

The midweek FA Cup clash with Sheffield United is vital having crashed out to Middlesbrough last season.

Then there is the second leg against Milan with Tottenham trailing 1-0 from the first leg of their Champions League encounter.

Tottenham also need to keep picking up results in the Premier League in order to secure a Champions League place.

Conte’s return will hopefully help Tottenham’s planning and get things back to normal after a strange period without him in the dugout.
