With just a few hours left of the January transfer window, it will be interesting to see if any move transpires. Lazio are going strong in Serie A at the moment and are in the running for a top-three finish, and it is hard to envisage them losing a key player such as De Vrij.
However, every player has a price and Lazio have reportedly placed a high figure on the Netherlands international. Sport Mediaset claimed earlier this month that the Serie A outfit value De Vrij at €60million (£52million) (click here to read more). That is quite a lot of money!

Would Tottenham or Chelsea be willing to pay over £50m for the 24-year-old centre-back in the middle of the season? Probably not, especially as neither of the two North London clubs are exactly in need of a central defender.

True, there have been injury concerns at the back for Spurs this season, but they are not that grave that manager Mauricio Pochettino would have to spend a lot of money to bring in a player from another league.
Interestingly, De Vrij would have cost much less than £50m if Tottenham and Chelsea were looking at him when he was at Feyenoord. According to The Sun, Lazio paid the Dutch club just £6m in the summer of 2014 to secure the services of the defender.
