Tottenham Hotspur could be offered Thomas Meunier for Toby Alderweireld.

Tottenham Hotspur fans really don’t want to see Toby Alderweireld leave the club…but a new report may just appease some of them.
Spurs activated a one-year option on Alderweireld’s contract last month, meaning his deal now expires in 2020 rather than 2019.
The problem is that, by activating that option, there is now a brief period of time this summer where a £25million release clause can be activated.
Europe’s biggest clubs may now be interested in landing Alderweireld, but Paris Saint-Germain are allegedly hoping to jump the queue by offering a deal to sign Alderweireld before other clubs can activate the clause.
The Telegraph report that PSG are considering offering up right back Thomas Meunier in a swap deal for Alderweireld, as they try to offer Spurs a deal they can’t refuse.
The pair are Belgian international teammates and featured together at the World Cup this past summer, with 27-year-old Meunier a fascinating potential target for Spurs.

Now, swap deals are famously difficult to pull off, but Tottenham fans are actually encouraged by a potential exchange between the two defenders.
Fans took to Twitter to suggest that Meunier is a ‘really good’ player, and if Alderweireld has to go, then landing a top right back in Meunier would be the best way for him to leave, with one fan noting that doing a straight swap rather than keeping Alderweireld AND signing Meunier would be ‘classic’ Daniel Levy.
