Fiorentina could put an end to Tottenham’s reported plan to re-sign Fernando Llorente.
Llorente was released by Tottenham at the end of June after his two-year contract came to an end.
A report in The Telegraph last week claimed Spurs would consider re-signing Llorente if he was willing to drop his wage demands. He earned £100,000 per week at Spurs.
Now Gianluca Di Marzio reports Serie A side Fiorentina are set to make a pitch to sign the veteran Spaniard.
Di Marzio claims Fiorentina have made contact with Llorente and he is willing to listen to their offer, and hear from other clubs.
The report also notes that Tottenham could still look to bring him back.
It makes sense for Spurs to let Llorente test the market, to see what he can earn elsewhere.
If they believe his most attractive offer to be one they can match or beat financially, Tottenham may feel they have the best sporting project for him.
Llorente’s decision may also depend on whether he wants to play regularly, or go back to becoming a back up for Harry Kane.
