Jamie Carragher has stated ‘you have a problem when Tottenham are calling you cowards’ after that was thrown at Arsenal over postponing the north London derby.
Speaking to fans on The Overlap, Carragher was talking to a Spurs supporter, who was critical of Arsenal being ‘afraid’ of playing the north London derby back in January when they only had ‘one’ COVID case.
At the time, Arsenal were struggling to field an XI, with injuries, suspensions to Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, then a COVID case, forcing them to halt the game to a future date.
From that perspective, Mikel Arteta’s side are probably at an advantage because they are much stronger now, both in terms of who will be available to them and the form that they are in.
But this is what Spurs fan Flav had to say about Arsenal postponing the north London derby back in January, with Carragher issuing his responses.
Spurs fan Flav stated: “Everyone’s praising Arteta here, but he was kind of leading the charge or the idea that Arsenal shouldn’t play Tottenham at White Hart Lane a couple of months ago. Showing blatant elements of cowardness.”
Carragher responded to those claims: “You have a problem when Tottenham are calling you cowards.”
Flav then added: “They didn’t show up. They should have played that game.”
Carragher then reminded the Spurs fan: “You haven’t shown up for about 20 years.”
Flav then finished off by saying: “They were too afraid to come and play Spurs at WHL because they were worried what the result might have been. They could have fielded a team. They had one case of COVID.”

A rescheduled date hasn’t been set for the north London derby, but the timing of it is going to be very crucial.
At this moment in time, it’s Arsenal who are leading the charge to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
But, by the time that game comes around, Spurs or Manchester United could be in that fourth seat spot.
Regardless of what does or doesn’t happen, Arsenal have known for a number of weeks now, given their current position and games in hand, that this is now theirs to lose.
