Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has hinted midfielder Denis Suarez may be free to leave the club on loan this month, The Mirror report.

This is a potential boost for Arsenal who are trying to sign the talented 25-year-old on loan until the rest of the season.

It’s a deal which Tottenham must now try to muscle in on after losing Dele Alli to injury until March.

Spurs have been linked to Suarez before, with Mundo Deportivo claiming they held an interest in the midfielder and wanted to sign him in August 2017.

Now out of favour at Barcelona and pushed down the pecking order by a surprise move for Kevin Prince-Boateng, Suarez needs a move.

Spurs are light on numbers in midfield, certainly more stretched than Arsenal are, with injuries to Alli, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Sissoko, while Mousa Dembele has been sold.

Former Manchester City youngster Suarez has only played four times for Barcelona this season, each game as a substitute.

He has four goals and six assists for Barcelona in 18 career starts for the La Liga giants.

As an attacking midfielder he would be ideal to replace Dele Alli for Spurs in the short term, and on loan there is no risk factor or financial commitment.

Getting one over on Arsenal is an extra incentive for chairman Daniel Levy to pursue a deal.
