Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele.

Tottenham Hotspur have concerns about the future of midfielder Mousa Dembele, and that means that boss Mauricio Pochettino will be looking at potential successors this summer.

Belgian star Dembele could move on with just one year left on his contract, and Spurs need to have players lined up who can bring the rare skills of Dembele in the middle of the park.

Dembele’s outstanding technique and dribbling ability, coupled with his power to drive through midfield, are vital to how Spurs play, and Pochettino does appear to have identified a suitable replacement.

Sky Sports report that Tottenham want a deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, and whilst no talks have taken place between the two clubs, he appears to be emerging as a top Spurs target.

Ndombele, 21, starred for Lyon last season during a loan spell from Amiens, and that move was made permanent after one goal and seven assists, with the Frenchman displaying the drive and skill that Spurs are looking for.

Whilst Ndombele appears to be perfect for Tottenham, talks between Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could be somewhat rocky, if they do take place.

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton at White Hart Lane on August 29, 2015 in London, England.

Not only are both men notorious for their tough negotiating stances – just look at how Lyon cancelled Liverpool’s move for Nabil Fekir earlier this month – but there is also a history between the two men.

Aulas slammed Levy’s conduct during Tottenham’s deal to sign Hugo Lloris in 2012, as reported by The Telegraph, and whilst Spurs have signed Clinton Njie from Lyon since then, relations aren’t exactly perfect.

Levy would face a real battle with Aulas regardless, especially as Lyon only just sealed a permanent move for Ndombele this summer, but Spurs fans may have concerns about the prior negotiating between the two men as Spurs chase the midfielder’s signature.
