Tottenham Hotspur have added three first-team signings this summer with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty arriving.
Now, Spurs have added a new signing to their Under-23 ranks – but have rather quietly gone about announcing it.
Tottenham’s Under-23’s were in action at Hotspur Way on Saturday afternoon, taking on Brighton and Hove Albion.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw, as Kazaiah Sterling cancelled out a Teddy Jenks opener, earning Tottenham a share of the spoils.
Spurs fans will have seen some familiar names in the starting lineup, with Brandon Austin, Dennis Cirkin, George Marsh, Harvey White, Jack Roles and Jack Clarke among the starters.
Yet some may have been baffled by the name ‘Ferguson’ appearing in the Tottenham side, given that Spurs didn’t have a player of that name to speak of.
However, Tottenham’s official match report quietly announced that Keenan Ferguson has joined Tottenham on a deal until the end of the season.
So who is Keenan Ferguson? Well, Sheffield United released him this summer, and he has earned a deal with Tottenham after a successful trial.
Sheffield United’s official website describes him as ‘a versatile defender, who has excellent pace, power and athleticism’, and it’s understood that Tottenham deployed him at right back despite him being branded as a centre back in the past.
Ferguson, 20, will now hope to impress at Tottenham and win an extension next summer – hopefully with a little more fanfare around the deal than this one.
