Tottenham Hotspur were allegedly interested in signing the midfielder, before he ended up moving to Leicester City.

Leicester confirmed the signing of Youri Tielemans on loan from Monaco yesterday, according to the Telegraph, and Tottenham really must be kicking themselves.
With Spurs’ lack of numbers, and Mousa Dembele having already left for China, there really is no excuse whatsoever for the north London outfit failing to sign the Belgian.
Tottenham currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, so they are well in the title race.
A lack of bodies could be a real problem for Mauricio Pochettino, however, especially in central midfield.
As mentioned, Dembele left the club earlier last month, and Victor Wanyama has only just returned from injury.
Dele Alli is out until at least early March, so Poch will be overly reliant on Harry Winks and Mousa Sissoko in the middle of the park.
And how they could have done with Tielemans – the Belgian would have been perfect for Tottenham.
The 21-year-old is a classy operator, and he would have fit right in at Spurs.

Tielemans was available for around £20 million, according to the Telegraph, and in today’s day and age, that would surely have been considered a real snip for Tottenham.
The report from the British broadsheet also claimed that Spurs were contemplating a move for the 19-capped Belgium international, so why did they abandon their plans?
Daniel Levy is notoriously frugal with the club’s money, and perhaps he and Pochettino decided that the Monaco ace wouldn’t have given them much more than what they already have.
And that could end up bing a massive mistake from Tottenham.
