The Belgium international would be an excellent addition to the Tottenham Hotspur squad.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Area Napoli, Tottenham have been offered the services of Dries Mertens, and what a sensational signing the 31-year-old could be for the north London outfit.
Mauricio Pochettino will surely be looking to bolster his attacking ranks at Spurs this summer, in an effort to add more potency to side side’s play in the final third.
The likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son desperately need more competition, and Mertens would undoubtedly provide them with just that.

The Belgian is actually a centre-forward by trade, but he can also operate in the wide attacking areas, as he has been doing for his country at the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Every Love Island contestant if they were an England player – World Cup!
He can also play in the number 10 role, and that kind of versatility would be a great asset to Tottenham, and would provide Pochettino with the option of playing with more in-game tactical flexibility.
The 31-year-old was in superb form for Napoli last season, racking up 22 goals and 12 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Italian club.
He is a lethal finisher, and possesses incredible movement – something that defenders absolutely hate playing against.

One question mark regarding his ability to succeed in England could be his height, however.
Standing at just 5ft 7in, Mertens is diminutive in size, but do not be fooled, his tenacity and fighting spirit more than make up for his small stature.
The 73-capped Belgium international really is a world-class forward, and if Tottenham manage to bring him to north London, it could turn out to be a quite phenomenal signing for them.
