With Everton seemingly looking elsewhere, the path may be clear for Tottenham to target Richarlison.

Tottenham Hotspur face being beaten by Everton to the signature of Malcom.

SkySports report the Toffees are in advanced talks to sign the Brazilian.

While a blow for Spurs, it does clear the path for the North London side to target another Brazilian winger, Richarlison.

Everton had been pushing to sign Richarlison but have hit a brick wall, with Watford refusing to sell to them at £40 million, angry with The Toffees after recruiting former boss Marco Silva, The Sun reported.

Their desire to focus on Malcom shows they have pretty much abandoned hope of signing Richarlison, who is also said to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Spurs were first linked to Richarlison by the Evening Standard last year, before The Sun reported earlier in 2018 that they are still keen, also watching teammae Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Richarlison had a terrific start to the season but faded in the second half, with manager Javi Gracia failing to get the best out of him.

Still only 21, Richarlison scored five Premier League goals for the Hornets following his summer switch from Fluminense.

If Tottenham remain keen, then their biggest challengers have just dropped out of the race.

He may seem like merely a consolation for Malcom, but Richarlison could still become a clever signing for Spurs if he can build on the potential he showed last year.
