Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in signing Aymeric Laporte from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Tottenham have “considered” a move for the £130,000-a-week (SalarySport)Spain international centre-back.

However, Spurs are now actively trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven instead, according to the report.

Could Tottenham Hotspur sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City?

In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur could struggle to sign Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

First of all, City, who won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League last season, are likely to ask for a lot in transfer fees for the 29-year-old centre-back.

Then there is also the desire of the player himself.

Yes, Spurs are a big club who regularly challenge for the Premier League top four, but they do not tend to win anything major.

At City, Laporte is used to winning Premier League titles, and last season, they won the UEFA Champions League.

Would Laporte be willing to leave City to join a club who are unlikely to win the Premier League title anytime soon?
