Tottenham are linked with a surprise move for Max Meyer.

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a shock switch for German talent Max Meyer, according to newspaper BILD.
Meyer, 20, is valued at a staggering 45 million Euros, and would be a huge deal for Tottenham to try and complete on transfer deadline day.
Whether he realises it or not, Tottenham have already done Meyer a favour early in his career, dating back to 2013.
This was when Spurs raided Schalke to sign Lewis Holtby in the January of that year.

With Holtby sold, Schalke simply looked within for a replacement, turning to talented teenager Max Meyer.
Just one month after Holtby’s exit, Meyer was handed his Bundesliga debut, one of six appearances he went on to make that season.
The next season he was handed the number seven shirt and hasn’t looked back.
He has since gone on to make more than 120 appearances for Schalke in all competitions, earning one cap for Germany, and while he surely would have made the breakthrough anyway, Holtby leaving fast-tracked him into the first team.

As for whether he would consider a move to England? Tottenham have reason to be hopeful of persuading him to leave Schalke, if they can agree a fee.
Meyer told The Mail back in June he would be open to a switch, stating: “If I left Schalke and was going to play football in any other league in Europe I would like to move to England.”
A deal is still a hugely ambitious one for Spurs to try and pull off at this late stage, but Meyer fits their strategy of signing top young talent, and he would be a welcome and exciting addition to the squad.
