Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has spoken highly of Callum Hudson-Odoi following the Chelsea forward’s inclusion in the England squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Spurs ace and Three Lions captain believes that the 18-year-old has the ability to play at the highest level and is eager to see how his career progresses in the next year or so.

Hudson-Odoi, who has yet to start a Premier League game, had initially travelled to Bristol to meet up with England’s Under-21 squad on Monday.

According to Sky Sports News, however, he was told he would have to divert back to St George’s Park after Gareth Southgate decided to call him up to the senior setup.

“Callum has had a taste of cup competitions and a little bit in the Premier League. He will want to play and gain experience at the highest level,” Kane is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying.

“We will see how his career progresses over the next year or so, whether he does that where he is now or maybe out on loan with another team. For young players coming through, it is vital that they play… I’ve got no doubt he has the ability to play at the highest level.”

Hudson-Odoi has played 19 games for Chelsea this season, scoring five times, but has made just six substitute appearances in the top flight for 119 minutes of action (BBC Sport).

The teenager was part of the England side that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 but had not represented the country at Under-21 level before being drafted into the full squad.
