Tottenham Hotspur have secured their first signing of the summer, with goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini joining on loan from Atalanta.
Spurs have been linked with an outrageous number of Serie A players ever since Fabio Paratici came in as their new director of football, but this is one rumour that has actually come true.
Gollini signs on loan for the season with the option of a permanent move as Tottenham attempt to land the heir to Hugo Lloris.
Formerly of Aston Villa and Manchester United, Gollini returns to English football seeking more success than he has previously enjoyed in the UK.
The 26-year-old struggled with Villa but really rebuilt his reputation at Atalanta, playing 100 times for the club whilst also earning a cap for Italy.
Gollini posted a goodbye message to Atalanta on Instagram, and received messages from not one but two other players Paratici wants to sign.
Atalanta defender Cristian Romero is wanted at Tottenham alongside Gollini, as is AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie – who played with Gollini during the 2016-17 season.
Kessie posted ‘Good luck brother’ whilst Romero stated ‘grande Gollo’, praising the goalkeeper for his big move.
Tottenham fans replied to both players by urging them to join Gollini in North London – and if Paratici gets his way, all three could join forces at Spurs.
