Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has refused to rule out being a part of Antonio Conte’s coaching staff.

Tottenham appointed Conte as their new manager last week as he replaced Nuno Espirito Santo.

Conte has decided to bring in a host of trusted staff to help start his Tottenham regime.

Conte’s brother Gianluca has joined, as have Cristian Stellini, Costantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone and Stefano Bruno.

The five Italians have worked with Conte in the past, but Tottenham still need to find a goalkeeping coach.

Rui Barbosa left Tottenham alongside Nuno, and a replacement has yet to be confirmed.

Friedel can’t rule out Tottenham return

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel has now been asked whether he fancies taking the job and working with Conte.

The American turned out 67 times for Tottenham in his playing career and has been an ambassador for the club in recent years.

Speaking to Cartilage Free Captain, Friedel stated that you can ‘never say never’ in football, seemingly open to the role.

“Who knows. You never say never to things in football!” said Friedel.

It seems unlikely that Tottenham and Conte would go for Friedel, but he knows the club and Hugo Lloris well.

The 50-year-old did have a coaching spell in charge of New England Revolution, winning just 12 of his 47 games in charge.

Friedel’s comments could put him on Tottenham’s radar for the job, in a move that some Tottenham fans may support.
