Promising Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brandon Austin’s impressive form has been recognised after he received a call up for the USA under-18 squad.
US Soccer announced a 28 player squad yesterday for the upcoming Slovakia Cup tournament, and this is Austin’s first call up for the side.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper played a key role in Tottenham’s FA Youth Cup run to the semi-finals, and has trained with the first team this season, seen below with star striker Harry Kane recently.
Austin has a long way to go to make it at Tottenham as he is fourth choice at best, behind Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Pau Lopez.
This tournament is a good way for him to further his development while beginning an international career.
It is also a potentially significant play by the USA to try and ensure they do not lose out on him to England.
