Bayern Munich are now backing out of the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur have been boosted in their pursuit of Trevoh Chalobah with Bayern Munich no longer a threat.

That is according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who claims that Bayern are out of the race for Chalobah.

Chalobah appears to be completely frozen out at Chelsea and a departure in January seems almost inevitable now.

The Mirror claimed in October that Chalobah could be Chelsea’s first January sale with Mauricio Pochettino keen to let him go.

Bayern Munich back out of Trevoh Chalobah race

Bayern were interested in signing Chalobah over the summer with Thomas Tuchel driving the interest.

Tuchel coached Chalobah at Chelsea and seemingly wanted to reunite in Bavaria.

Well, that interest has now faded away with Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg suggesting that Bayern are now out of the race.

Plettenberg claims that both Bayern and rivals Borussia Dortmund are not planning to move for Chalobah.

The reason is that Chalobah is only expected to play again at the end of January as he continues to recover from a muscle tear.

Bayern and Dortmund seemingly don’t want to get involved given those injury problems, leaving Tottenham with something to think about.

Tottenham are interested in signing Chalobah

Chalobah does have Premier League suitors with Tottenham understood to be keen on the 24-year-old defender.

Spurs are in the market for another centre back in January with cover and competition needed for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Chalobah may fit the bill for Spurs as he is a versatile, homegrown defender with some room to grow with more playing time.

The problem is that Chalobah would surely be looking for first-team football when he leaves Chelsea.

Tottenham may only see Chalobah as competition for their current centre backs, rather than going straight into the lineup.

Whether that appeals to Chalobah is unclear, but Tottenham will be somewhat encouraged knowing that Harry Kane’s Bayern won’t be a rival in this transfer race.
