The Tottenham Hotspur winger has been out of action for months and is still some way off a return.

As reported by the club’s official website, Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has undergone planned surgery on his left hip, with the operation not thought to affect his recovery period.
The Argentine winger has been out of action since late October and while there was initially mystery surrounding the player’s continued absence, it has since been confirmed that he would be out for the rest of the campaign, with the surgery scheduled in a bid to rectify the problem.
Tottenham’s apparent reluctance to state categorically what was going on with Lamela had prompted some of the club’s fans to start coming up with their own theories, with some feeling he may never pull on the white shirt again.
However, it now seems they have not seen the last of the 25-year-old, provided he fully recovers in time for next season.

At his best Lamela is a vital player for Mauricio Pochettino’s style of play, although the Spurs manager has adapted that somewhat in the international’s absence.
He has turned out 121 times for Tottenham to date, scoring 19 goals and providing 31 assists, and he will no doubt be hoping to come back fit and firing as the North London club attempt to build on their impressive year.
