Tottenham want to sell Giovani Lo Celso and took take a hefty loss with Villarreal only willing to pay around £17million this summer.
Tottenham face a big summer under Antonio Conte having secured Champions League football.
The focus will of course be on new signings at Tottenham, especially after the £150million cash injection from ENIC.
Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic look set to sign to bring experience and there will be more to come in.
What about players leaving though?
You would imagine that players like Sergio Reguilon, Steven Bergwijn and Joe Rodon will be sold to raise funds but what about Giovani Lo Celso?
Tottenham want to sell Giovani Lo Celso
The Argentinian playmaker quickly fell out of Conte’s plans and was sent on loan to Villarreal in January.
Reuniting with his former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery, Lo Celso was able to help Villarreal reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Villarreal seem keen on signing Lo Celso permanently despite just one goal and one assist in 22 outings.
The Daily Mail now claim that Villarreal are willing to pay £17million to sign Lo Celso permanently this summer.
That’s a major loss on the fees Tottenham paid to sign him in the 2019-20 season.
Tottenham paid £15million to take Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis and then another £27million to sign him permanently.

That huge outlay of £42million really hasn’t paid dividends for Tottenham and they now face a major £25million loss.
Tottenham may hope for more but are they realistically going to get a better offer?
Villarreal aren’t big spenders and £17million may be about as good as it will get for Tottenham.
There have been hopes of a part-exchange deal involving Lo Celso for Villarreal star Pau Torres, but that has quietened down of late.
A cash deal seems more likely and Conte will probably just want Lo Celso gone this summer, even if Tottenham take a big loss.
