Tottenham Hotspur fancy Giorgi Mamardashvili and his agent has hinted that English interest has emerged for the Valencia star.

Hugo Lloris once again proved his immense quality with a fine performance against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

Yet with the Frenchman set to turn 36 in December, it’s surely time for Tottenham to start thinking about a succession plan.

Fraser Forster isn’t the successor at 34 and Fabio Paratici is surely looking around the world to find Tottenham’s next great goalkeeper.

Lloris has set the standard with over 10 years of service to Tottenham and Spurs would love his successor to do the same.

One name seemingly on Tottenham’s radar is that of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The Georgian goalkeeper has emerged as a real star since joining Valencia in 2021.

All the focus on Georgian football is placed on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but maybe Mamardashvili deserves to be spoken of in the same way.

The giant 6ft 6in goalkeeper joined Valencia from Dinamo Tbilisi in the summer of 2021 despite never making a first-team appearance for the Georgian side.

Valencia clearly loved what they saw from Mamardashvili in his loan spells at Rustavi and Locomotive Tbilisi, and whoever found him deserves a big pay rise.

Mamardashvili has become Valencia’s first-choice goalkeeper and he now looks set for a huge future moving forward.

Tottenham have shown an interest in the 22-year-old with Marca claiming over the summer that Spurs had joined Manchester United in eyeing up Mamardashvili.

The Valencia star certainly fits the age profile Tottenham would be seeking as a successor to Lloris.

Mamardashvili’s agent Levan Seturidze has now told Calciomercato that there is interest from clubs in Italy and England.

We would assume that one of the interested clubs is Tottenham, but Seturidze suggested that Mamardashvili is just focusing on Valencia now whilst leaving the door open for a 2023 transfer.

“Many important teams are watching him and we have found interest from them, not only from Italian but also English teams,” said Seturidze. “For now our goal is Valencia and he must do his utmost to grow even more. As for the 2023 summer transfer market, however, many things can change but for now he is the starting goalkeeper of Valencia,” he added.
