Tottenham get one over on North London rivals Arsenal for second time in a week

The Spurs youngsters have certainly had a good week against their Arsenal counterparts recently.

When Arsenal take on Tottenham Hotspur at any level it is a game to mark down in the calendar – and we can imagine the youngsters at both clubs had this game in mind for a while.

Arsenal and Spurs’ respective Under-18’s sides went at it yesterday afternoon at London Colney – as the future of the two clubs went toe-to-toe.

The rivals actually met quite recently at Under-21 level – with Vlad Chiriches featuring in a 2-0 win against the Gunners.

And once again it was Spurs who took the bragging rights.

An Arsenal team containing the likes of regular first-team trainer Jack Jebb, next ‘Jack Wilshere’ Dan Crowley and hot prospect Austin Lipman were defeated 3-1 at home against their local rivals.

Tottenham’s goals came from Shayon Harrison, Daniel Akindayini and Nathan Oduwa were enough to secure victory for Spurs in the game- George Dobson bagging a late consolation for The Gunners.

Harry Winks, who recently made the bench for the first-team match against Liverpool, captained the side in an excellent performance.

After the game Tottenham’s under-18 boss heralded his sides performance – John McDermott stating:

“I was pleased with the way we played. We always try and dominate possession and I thought we did that today. With this team you’re always looking for something a little bit extra and we probably had too many unfinished chances, but overall I was very pleased. We played well.”

For Spurs it is the second time in less than a week their youngsters have earned the North London bragging rights – and they will certainly be happy to have done so.

For Arsenal they will just have to wait until next season to get another pop at Spurs.
