Ben White has revealed that beating Tottenham Hotspur represents his most memorable moment as an Arsenal player so far.

White joined Arsenal in a £50 million deal during the summer transfer window, becoming their most expensive defensive signing in history.

The 23-year-old had a stormer in September as Mikel Arteta’s side thumped Tottenham 3-1 in the defender’s first North London derby since joining from Brighton.

The scoreline might not suggest a hammering but, considering the Gunners were three goals up on Spurs by the 35-minute mark, that ought to illustrate the ease of which Arteta’s troops secured the bragging rights.

Asked during a Q & A on Arsenal’s Twitch channel what his favourite moment has been, the former Leeds loanee instantly responded: “Tottenham. For sure. I think you know how the game’s going to go by the first action that you do and mine was a tackle on Son. You can feel the atmosphere before the game and you could tell how it was going to go.”

Strength to strength

White had a difficult start to life at Arsenal, with his debut being the 2-0 defeat by Brentford on the opening weekend of the season.

But the England international is gradually adjusting to life at the Emirates and his performance in the 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last week – six days after the Tottenham win – further reflects that.

Much was made of the fact that Arteta decided to spend so much money on him irrespective of the fact that he only had one Premier League season under his belt at that time.

But for now, it’s looking like a pretty good investment and there’s no telling how much better he’ll become as time goes on.
