Vincent Janssen left Tottenham Hotspur for Fenerbahce on loan in the summer.
According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Fenerbahce want to extend Vincent Janssen’s loan deal from Tottenham for another season, despite the fact that he has been absent from action with an injury since December.
The Dutchman joined Spurs in the summer of 2016 from AZ Alkmaar, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £17 million, but desperately failed to establish himself at the club, scoring just six goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.
He left the Lilywhites for Fenerbahce on loan in the summer of 2017, and has endured similar troubles in Turkey, scoring just twice in 11 outings thus far.
It will perhaps come as somewhat of a surprise then to see Turkish publication Fanatik reporting that Fenerbahce want to extend Janssen’s loan spell for a another season.
They also claim that they want the deal wrapped up before the start of pre-season, in order to give the 23-year-old a full summer of training.
There will probably not be too many Tottenham fans who are disappointed with the news that Janssen could spend another season away from the club, and in the long term, it might just be what the Dutch hitman needs, in order to salvage his career in north London.
