Well, Vincent Janssen hasn’t wound up being a poor player despite a difficult time at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutch hitman joined Spurs back in 2016 from AZ Alkmaar and with an excellent goalscoring record in the Eredivisie, he was tipped for big things in the Premier League.

But Janssen only managed six goals in 42 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

The 28-year-old went to Fenerbahce, and then Monterrey, and now plies his trade for Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.

And it’s fair to say that he has certainly bounced back from his struggles at the Lilywhites under Mauricio Pochettino.

That’s because Janssen could potentially be going to the World Cup in Qatar.

A lot of average players will be at the competition, but Janssen could be going with his native Netherlands, which carries more weight than had he been going with a less formidable nation.

The former Tottenham striker has been named in the provisional squad and although he may not make the final cut, 20 caps for the Oranje already indicates that he has more than a fighting chance.

Janssen is an experienced player in the prime of his career and it wouldn’t be a massive surprise to see Louis van Gaal bring him.
