Tottenham Hotspur could be about to sign a replacement for Harry Kane just over a year on from the forward departing the club.

After Harry Kane departed Tottenham Hotspur for Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich with the Englishman wanting to win trophies and Spurs had just finished outside of the UEFA Champions League places.

The Lilywhites had a promising season under Ange Postecoglou, but the severe lack of a natural centre-forward cost the club as Aston Villa claimed the final Champions League spot.

This summer, the North London club made it clear that they wanted a new centre-forward this summer with Spurs identifying Santiago Gimenez as their main striker target.

Spurs identify Dominic Solanke as Harry Kane replacement

HITC understands that Tottenham are progressing in talks with Bournemouth to sign striker Dominic Solanke with the Englishman open to a move away from the club.

HITC has been told that Spurs are willing to pay £65million for Solanke this summer but would prefer to restructure the payments.

Solanke has a £65 million release clause in his Bournemouth contract which is only viable for the Premier League’s Big Six.

Chelsea were previously interested in Solanke but it is Tottenham who are favourites for the Englishman.

Last season under Andoni Iraola’s Cherries, Solanke netted an impressive 19 Premier League goals and provided three assists for the South Coast club.

Solanke has previously had a spell at one of the top teams in England with Liverpool but that transfer did not work out well as the forward was shipped out to Bournemouth.

Since that move in 2018, Solanke has been inconsistent for the Cherries, netting 29 times in the Championship but struggling to replicate that form in the Premier League.

However, the previous campaign has proven to be his breakout season in the Premier League and a summer move could be on the cards.

Spurs could sign ace Thierry Henry hailed as ‘brilliant’

Solanke has really come on in the past 12 months and the Englishman was linked with a move to one of the Premier League’s big six back in January.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport earlier in the year, former Arsenal icon Thierry Henry was keen to heap praise on the Englishman.

“Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth,” Henry said. “Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player. I guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant.”

Interestingly, according to FBREF, one of the players that Solanke is similar to is RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. Solanke excels with his passing, which is similar to Kane who became the fulcrum for Spurs.

Whilst Solanke is certainly not on the level of Kane, if Postecoglou can develop the Englishman and improve his all-round game, Spurs could be a real danger next season.
