Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer proved one of his own fans right. Kind of.

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Kevin Wimmer scored the opener in the North London derby at the weekend, there was just one problem – it was an own goal.

Spurs fought back to claim a 1-1 draw through a Harry Kane penalty, with a share of the points a fair result.

Wimmer’s own goal caused one Tottenham fan’s twitter feed to go viral, with a supporter confidently predicting Wimmer would score a header at The Emirates.

The comment was made three weeks ago in anticipation of the fixture, and drew plenty of attention this weekend by hawk eyed Gunners fans.

The message was re-tweeted more than 4,000 times and counting, mainly from Arsenal supporters who took pleasure in the own goal of a prediction.

Despite the unfortunate own goal, the draw at The Emirates was probably a better result for Tottenham, even if their run of games without a win continued.

Arsenal had been in excellent form coming into the fixture and the Gunners missed a chance to pull away from their North London rivals in the league table. Instead the gap sits at three points, with Arsenal in fourth and Tottenham in fifth position.
