As we type, Gareth Southgate is preparing his England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.

Among the group, there is only one Tottenham player in Harry Kane.

However, there’s another who should arguably still be with Spurs.

What’s the story?

Well, Kyle Walker-Peters was handed a maiden call-up by Southgate after Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James suffered injuries.

The 24-year-old left Tottenham in 2020 to join Southampton, where he has gone from strength to strength under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Now, a photo of Kane with his arm around Walker-Peters has emerged from the England camp at St George’s Park.

Spurs fans will surely love this image, as it shows two Academy graduates enjoying themselves on the biggest stage there is for an English footballer.

Walker-Peters may no longer be a Tottenham player, but it should fill Spurs with pride to see two of their own among the England camp.

Tottenham should re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters

At the time, it seemed like Spurs had done some decent business when they effectively swapped Walker-Peters for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

However, since the deal was done, Tottenham have struggled to find a reliable right-back. Serge Aurier, Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal have all tried their best, but none have shone.

Therefore, we think Spurs should try to bring Walker-Peters back to N17, as he’s now thriving.

In 28 appearances this season, the right-back has scored two goals – including a brilliant strike against Manchester City – while also providing four assists.

In our view, he’d fit perfectly into Antonio Conte’s wing-back system.

Whether Southampton would be prepared to let him go, however, is another story all together.
