Tottenham Hotspur face a difficult task as they look to bounce back from a disappointing FA Cup draw against Newport County with Manchester United Wednesday night’s opponents – and fans have urged Victor Wanyama to start.

The 25-year-old midfielder has failed to regain his spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up since returning to the side from a long-term knee injury.

The former Southampton powerhouse has been used just six times in the Premier League this season, four of which have come after his injury, clocking up a minuscule 166 minutes.

However, Spurs will need a rigidity in their midfield if they are to beat Jose Mourinho’s side on Wednesday night, as they look to keep the likes of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata quiet.

Tottenham fans are desperate to see Pochettino hand Wanyama a start against United, as Spurs look for their side to keep pace with Liverpool by securing all three points after the Reds beat Huddersfield 3-0 on Tuesday night.

One fan simply stated he “has to start”.
